Attorney Rex Elliott from the law firm, Cooper & Elliott, joins me to talk about how the legal landscape has changed in Ohio. Now, if someone is charged with hazing, it is no longer classified as a misdemeanor—it now becomes a felony when it involves substantial injury or death. Rex goes on to explain how the Stone Foltz case was the driving force behind the state legislature's action to finally pass Collin's Law. Not only does Collin's Law elevate hazing to a felony with possible jail time, but also mandates that colleges must post the hazing history of organizations on campus for parents and students to examine. Furthermore, colleges and universities have a mandatory obligation to report incidences of hazing to local law enforcement. This is an eye-opening podcast that explains what happens in the aftermath of a hazing incident.
