WES BELLAMY
He is young rising star in community leadership. Before reaching
30-years-old Bellamy has made a highly competitive run for political
office in Charlottesville, started a non-profit, earned his master’s
degree, become a non-profit board director, and has even become the host
of a popular morning radio show. All of this comes from a man who
passed up the opportunity to play college football at a Southeastern
Conference university. Instead of gridiron glory stories, Bellamy speaks
passionately about how the HBCUs he attended have helped him become the
leader he is.
Bellamy received his bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State
University and his master’s from Virginia State University where he is
also pursuing his doctorate. The Atlanta native is the founder of
H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Evolve), president of the Young Black
Professional Network, a member of the 100 Black Men of Charlottesville
board of directors, and the host of the “Soul of the City” morning show
on WUVA-FM. He was also named one of HBCU Buzz’s “Top 30 Under 30”.
