For this episode, we went the Mithra Jazz Festival in Liège, Belgium, in May to meet the legendary DJ AMIR and talk about on his classic mixtapes with KON, the incredible tracks he has dug up in a lifetime of dedication to the craft of record digging, meeting and working with some of the biggest names in hip hop in 90s New York City, as well as his newest project with the Jazzanova crew to reimagine the music from the catalogue of Strata Records, the Black-owned underground jazz label from 70s Detroit.

During the show, we focused on music from the Strata records catalogue and the new double LP, “Strata Records – the Sound of Detroit – Reimagined by Jazzanova” on BBE Records, as well as music from and inspired by KON and Amir’s mixtapes (especially the On Track and Off Track series) and the A&R, production, and remix work Amir has done for various labels over the years.
