The New Moon: A Fresh Start in the Way We Live
The Sun and Moon come together at 18 degrees of Virgo on September 10th-11th to bring us a new beginning and fresh start with our bodies, our minds, our discernment, our daily energy, and our understanding of what plans and routines are actually stable enough to support us through this new season.
Virgo asks us to get specific.
What is working?
What isn’t?
What are you giving your energy to that no longer deserves it?
And perhaps most importantly:
What does your body already know that your mind is still trying to negotiate?
This New Moon isn’t asking us to create a perfect life. It is asking us to create a life that is sustainable enough to actually live in.
Your Emotions Are Not the Plan
The Sun and Moon in Virgo are forming a sextile—or opportunity aspect—with Mars in Cancer.
This is a beautiful reminder that we don’t need to allow our emotions to dictate the plan.
If you’re feeling moody, overwhelmed, reactive, or suddenly tempted to change everything based on how you feel in the moment, this energy invites you to pause.
Go inward.
Give your emotions the attention they need.
Then come back to the present moment and ask:
What is actually necessary here?
Virgo is incredibly discerning. It can separate what is essential from what is excess.
Mars in Cancer reminds us that our emotions are important information—but they don’t necessarily need to be the ones driving the car.
Get the Story Straight
On the same day as the New Moon, Mercury moves into Libra.
Mercury wants conversation, cooperation, and a willingness to understand what the other person actually needs.
But Mercury is also squaring Dark Moon Lilith at the final degree of Sagittarius.
This is a major don’t-assume-you-know-what-someone-else-is-thinking moment.
Ask.
Clarify.
Listen.
And then ask again if you need to.
Because assumptions made under this energy can quickly turn into anger, resentment, or emotional outbursts.
Mercury in Libra wants us to find harmony—but not false harmony.
True harmony requires truth.
Venus Enters Scorpio: The Truth Gets Deeper
There is a much bigger Venus story beginning at this New Moon.
Venus moves out of Libra and into Scorpio on the same day—and she is already entering the pre-shadow period of her upcoming retrograde.
Venus retrograde will occur from October 3rd through November 14th, beginning in Scorpio and traveling back into Libra.
Venus governs so much of what makes up our earthly experience:
* relationships
* self-worth
* feminine energy
* money
* pleasure
* values
* receptivity
* what we believe we deserve
So this retrograde is going to be a big review.
In Scorpio, we’re looking beneath the surface.
What happens in our intimate relationships?
What are we willing to share?
Where are we giving too much of ourselves to prove our value?
What are we afraid to admit about money, intimacy, power, or trust?
And what subconscious patterns are ready to be brought into the light?
Then Venus will travel back into Libra, where the questions become:
What do other people want from me?
Where have I confused people-pleasing with harmony?
Where am I maintaining peace at the expense of myself?
The review begins now.
Venus + Chiron: The Truth May Feel Uncomfortable
Venus at 0° Scorpio directly opposes Chiron at 0° Taurus.
This brings the Scorpio/Taurus polarity directly into our awareness:
Truth vs. stability.
Venus in Scorpio wants the truth.
Chiron in Taurus knows that sometimes the truth threatens the stability of what we’ve known.
This opposition can feel like being asked to honor something deeply true—even when acknowledging it changes the ground beneath you.
But there is another message here:
What if the truth isn’t here to destroy your stability?
What if the truth is here to help you build a more honest version of it?
Venus in Scorpio is also sextile Dark Moon Lilith, reminding us that there can be freedom on the other side of speaking the truth.
Even the truth that contains anger.
Even the truth we were afraid would make us “too much.”
Even the truth we learned to swallow to keep everyone else comfortable.
Your Personal Dream Is Part of the Collective Transformation
Neptune at 3° Aries is sextile Pluto at 3° Aquarius.
These two outer planets are still working together toward a much larger collective transformation.
Neptune in Aries asks:
What is your personal dream?
Pluto in Aquarius asks:
How does your personal transformation contribute to the collective future?
There is a beautiful conversation happening here between the individual and the collective.
Your healing isn’t separate from the world.
Your boundaries aren’t separate from the world.
Your willingness to live more authentically isn’t separate from the world.
The life you are building becomes part of the world we are collectively building.
Chiron + Lilith: Stop Kicking the Can Down the Road
Chiron in Taurus is also Trining Dark Moon Lilith in Sagittarius in an out-of-sign trine.
This is supportive energy for finally acknowledging what has become too uncomfortable to ignore.
Lilith doesn’t want to pretend.
She wants her experience to matter just as much as everyone else’s.
And she can push Chiron in Taurus out of the comfort zone of saying:
“I’ll deal with it later.”
How long have you known something was off?
How long have you been waiting for the “right time” to make a change?
What would happen if you stopped asking whether you’re ready and simply acknowledged what is true?
Sometimes healing begins with something incredibly simple:
admitting that something hurts.
Mercury + Neptune: Clarity Is a Practice
Mercury at 0° Libra is also opposing Neptune in Aries.
This is another invitation to get clarity.
Don’t sacrifice yourself based on what you think someone else needs.
Don’t create an entire story around one unanswered text.
Don’t make permanent decisions based on temporary confusion.
Ask for clarification.
Say what you mean.
Listen for what isn’t being said.
And most importantly:
don’t abandon yourself in an attempt to understand someone else.
Mercury is also building a trine with Pluto in Aquarius.
Pluto wants the truth to move us forward.
Mercury in Libra gives that truth diplomacy, language, and relationship awareness.
This is an opportunity to have the conversation that actually moves something forward.
Venus + Pluto: Let the Relationship Transform
Venus in Scorpio is also building toward a powerful square with Pluto in Aquarius.
Fixed-sign squares can be intense because fixed energy doesn’t particularly enjoy being told to change.
Venus in Scorpio feels deeply.
Pluto in Aquarius can detach from emotional chaos long enough to see the larger pattern.
This creates an opportunity to transform relationships—particularly relationships involving women and feminine energy.
The key is consciousness.
Scorpio energy can swim very deeply in the subconscious when we aren’t paying attention.
So if something feels disproportionately intense right now, pause and ask:
Is this only about what is happening right now?
Or is something older asking to be healed through what is happening now?
Awareness is the lubrication that helps this square move instead of becoming a power struggle.
Saturn Retrograde: Are You Passing the Test?
Jupiter at 15° Leo is still in a loose trine with Saturn at 13° Aries, which is retrograde.
This gives us bonus points for sticking with the structure and self-discipline we were asked to develop when Saturn entered Aries earlier this year.
Since Saturn went retrograde on July 26th, many of us have been undergoing a series of pass/fail exams around everything we were learning about boundaries, responsibility, and self-work between February and July.
And the beautiful thing about this trine?
It’s showing us why the discipline matters.
Saturn isn’t here to take away our freedom.
Saturn is teaching us how to create enough structure to actually experience the life we say we want.
More discipline can create more freedom.
More boundaries can create more intimacy.
More discernment can create more energy.
And more self-responsibility can create more of what we love.
Uranus + Pluto: The Future Is Moving
Uranus at 5° Gemini is trining Pluto at 3° Aquarius.
This is powerful support for collective transformation.
Uranus in Gemini is questioning how information moves through our world.
It is uncovering false narratives, challenging old beliefs, and changing the way we communicate, connect, learn, and understand reality.
Pluto in Aquarius is focused on the deeper transformation of the collective.
Together, these planets are accelerating a transformation in the way humanity thinks, communicates, shares information, and organizes itself.
And once again, the invitation is personal:
What part of this transformation is yours to participate in?
The Virgo New Moon Invitation
This New Moon isn’t asking you to fix everything.
It is asking you to discern.
To notice.
To listen.
To get honest.
To stop assuming.
To let the truth become more important than the story.
To notice where your body is saying yes and where it is saying no.
To create routines that actually support the person you are becoming.
And perhaps most importantly:
to stop confusing discomfort with a sign that you’re doing something wrong.
Sometimes discomfort is simply the sensation of an old version of your life no longer fitting.
The Virgo New Moon gives us a moment to clean up the systems that support our lives so that we can enter this next season with more clarity, more honesty, and more energy available for what actually matters.
The question isn’t: “How can I do more?”
The question is: “What is truly worth my energy now?”
