You're tired.

Not just physically tired. You're tired of fighting the same battle, praying the same prayer, dealing with the same situation, and wondering how much longer you're supposed to keep going.

Part of you wants to keep believing.

Another part of you is exhausted.

If you're at the point where you're wondering whether you have anything left, this prayer is for you.

We're bringing the exhaustion, disappointment, frustration, fear, and weariness before God. We're praying for strength to keep going, peace for the parts you cannot control, encouragement when you feel discouraged, and faith for the days when you cannot see how things are going to work out.

You don't have to figure out the entire journey today.

You just need enough strength for the next step.

Rest if you need to.

Ask for help if you need it.

Change what needs to change.

But don't confuse being tired with being finished.

There may still be another chapter after this one.

Everybody saw what you did.

Maybe they talked about it. Judged you for it. Reminded you of it. Or made you feel like the worst thing you've ever done is now the only thing you're allowed to be known for.

But while they were looking at your sin, they forgot something.

They have needed grace too.

In John 8, a woman was brought before Jesus after being caught in adultery. Her accusers were ready to condemn her, but Jesus turned the attention back toward the people holding the stones.

“...He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” — John 8:7 KJV

One by one, they walked away.

Jesus did not pretend her sin didn't matter. But neither did He allow her accusers to determine the rest of her story.

This prayer is for the person carrying guilt, shame, regret, embarrassment, or condemnation because of something you've done.

We're praying about repentance, forgiveness, freedom from shame, and having the strength to move forward differently.

You can acknowledge what you did without allowing it to become your entire identity.

You can repent without spending the rest of your life punishing yourself.

And other people's knowledge of your past does not give them ownership over your future.

If you've asked God for forgiveness but you're still struggling to forgive yourself, come pray with me.

Let's put the stones down.

There's a different kind of pain that comes from watching your child hurt and realizing you can't simply make it disappear.

You would trade places with them if you could.

You would take the pain yourself.

You would make every phone call, knock on every door, ask every question, and do whatever you could to get them the help they need.

Because that's your child.

Maybe they're struggling emotionally. Maybe something has changed and you don't know how to reach them. Maybe they're sick, grieving, being bullied, struggling in school, making choices that scare you, or going through something they haven't fully told you about.

And as their parent, you're trying to figure out what to do next.

This prayer is for you and your child.

We're praying for protection, healing, wisdom, peace, strength, the right help, the right people, and guidance for every decision that needs to be made.

We're also praying for you—the parent who may be losing sleep, blaming yourself, searching for answers, and carrying fears you haven't told anyone about.

Prayer does not mean we stop looking for help.

We can pray and make the appointment.

We can pray and ask questions.

We can pray and find appropriate professional support.

We can pray and keep showing up for our children.

You may not be able to fix everything your child is facing, but you can love them, advocate for them, listen to them, seek appropriate help, and bring what you cannot control before God.

If your child is hurting and you don't know what else to do, come pray with me.

Have you ever looked around and wondered, “God, how are they getting ahead while I'm trying to do everything right?”

You're trying to make good decisions. You're trying to treat people right. You're praying, waiting, working, and doing your best to stay faithful.

Yet somehow, it looks like the people cutting corners, hurting others, compromising, or doing whatever they want are the ones prospering.

And you're still waiting.

If we're not careful, frustration can turn into comparison. Comparison can turn into discouragement. And eventually we can start wondering whether doing the right thing even matters.

This prayer is for that moment.

We're bringing the frustration, disappointment, comparison, impatience, and questions before God.

We're praying for peace when life doesn't seem fair, strength to remain faithful when doing right doesn't appear to be rewarded, wisdom to stop measuring our lives against somebody else's, and trust in God's timing when we don't understand what He's doing.

You don't know the entire story behind somebody else's success.

And you don't have to abandon your values because somebody else's path appears easier.

Keep your heart.

Keep your integrity.

Keep your eyes on God.

You're taking care of everybody.

You're checking on them. Helping them. Praying for them. Making sure they have what they need. You're the person people call when something goes wrong.

But who's checking on you?

Who's asking whether you're tired?

Who's noticing when you're overwhelmed?

Who's taking care of the person everybody depends on?

This prayer is for the caregiver, the helper, the mother, the spouse, the daughter, the friend, and the person who has become everybody else's strong place while quietly becoming exhausted themselves.

We're bringing the emotional exhaustion, responsibility, worry, frustration, guilt, and pressure before God.

We're praying for strength for the days when you're tired of being strong. Peace when your mind won't stop thinking about everybody else. Wisdom to recognize when you need rest. Courage to ask for help. And permission to remember that taking care of yourself does not mean you stopped caring about everyone else.

You have needs too.

You get tired too.

You need somewhere to rest too.

For these next few moments, you don't have to take care of anybody.

Come sit in God's presence.

Some betrayal hurts differently because of who it came from.

You’re still praying for it.

Still waiting. Still believing. Still trying to trust God.

And then you look over and see her living the very thing you’ve been asking God for.

She got married.
 She had the baby.
 She got the opportunity.
 Her business took off.
 Her family seems to be thriving.
 Her prayer seems answered...

You didn't create the situation. You got pulled into it.

And somehow, when everything went wrong, you became the one who had to suffer for it.

That's where we find Hagar.

Sarah had a plan. Abraham went along with it. Hagar became part of a situation she didn't create, and when the consequences became painful, the tension eventually fell heavily on her.

In this episode of Healing After Hours with Shaniqua Smith, we're going into Hagar's story in Genesis and looking beyond the names on the page to find ourselves in it.

Because maybe you've been Hagar.

Maybe somebody else's decision changed your life.
