  • Episode 6: The Dream Wasn’t Wrong. The Path Was.

Sometimes the dream is still right—but the path is wrong.

In Episode 6 of Healing Conversations, I reflect on a realization that changed the way I understand starting over: the end of my marriage didn’t necessarily mean losing the future I wanted. It meant letting go of one route to it.

This episode explores the difference between movement and progress, why we stay committed to paths we’ve invested years in, and what happens when disappointment convinces us to stop believing in things we still deeply want.

Because changing direction doesn’t mean the journey was a failure.

And starting again doesn’t mean starting from nothing.

Sometimes self-trust means being able to say:

I still want this. But I know now that I can’t get there from here.

What happens when the life you’re building looks right from the outside—but something inside you knows it isn’t taking you where you want to go?

In Episode 6, I explore the difference between the dream and the route we thought we had to take to reach it.

    In this episode:

    * Why movement and progress aren’t the same thing

    * The difference between grieving a dream and grieving a route

    * Why time, effort, identity, and hope can make changing direction difficult

    * How disappointment can make hope feel dangerous

    * Why a past choice doesn’t have to become a mistake because it no longer fits

    * What it means to start again from wisdom instead of from zero

    * How self-trust helps us separate what we still want from how we thought it had to happen

A Question to Carry With You

Is there something you still deeply want, but the path you’re on is quietly taking you farther away from it?

    Then ask:

Do I still want the destination?

And if the answer is yes:

What other way might there be?

  • Episode 5: Learning to Trust Myself Again

In Episode 5 of Healing Conversations: Coming Home to Yourself, Kesha explores what self-trust really means after years of questioning, minimizing, or overriding your own experience.

She shares the medical wake-up call that changed her understanding of self-trust: severe bleeding from fibroids left her dangerously weak, yet even after her doctor instructed her to go to the emergency room, she nearly talked herself out of going. At the hospital, she learned that she needed a blood transfusion and had lost roughly half of her blood volume.

This episode connects that experience with broader patterns in relationships, work, boundaries, and asking for help.

    Key takeaways

    Self-trust is not certainty.

Self-trust means taking yourself seriously enough to respond.

You do not have to diagnose a problem to know that something deserves attention.

We can become so practiced at explaining other people that we explain ourselves out of our own experience.

Reflection is different from automatically putting yourself on trial.

Boundaries begin internally, before they are ever communicated.

You do not have to wait for a crisis before your needs matter.

    Reflection question

Where in your life are you waiting for something to become unbearable before you give yourself permission to respond?

  • Episode 4: It Was Never Just One Relationship

For a long time, I believed that if someone reacted badly to my boundary, I had probably communicated it badly.

So I explained again. I softened the message. I made my needs smaller and easier to accept.

Then I started noticing what happened in healthier relationships. People did not always agree or understand—but they adjusted. They did not make me earn respect with a perfect explanation.

That realization changed the question from How do I get this person to understand me? to What does this person’s response teach me about the relationship?

In Episode 4 of Healing Conversations, I’m talking about the day one relationship stopped looking like an isolated problem and the larger pattern became visible.

Listen to the episode, and if it brings something into focus, begin the free 7-Day Self-Trust Reset.

Be gentle with yourself. You don’t have to reach a conclusion today. You can begin by noticing.

  • Episode 3: The Weight of Being the Strong One

Episode 3: The Weight of Being the Strong One

In this episode of Healing Conversations: Coming Home to Yourself, Kesha reflects on strength, responsibility, and the hidden pressure of being the person everyone can count on.

Through a story from her deployment to Iraq as an executive officer, Kesha explores how capability can become expectation, and how being trusted with more responsibility can quietly reinforce the belief that your value comes from how much you can carry.

This episode is an invitation to examine the gifts you may have turned into your identity.

    Key Takeaways

    - Strength can be a gift, but it becomes heavy when it starts determining your sense of worth.

    - Sometimes we are handed more responsibility not because we failed, but because we succeeded.

    - Capability is not calling.

    - Strength is not an invitation to carry everything.

    - Your gift is something you have; it is not who you are.

    - Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is set something down.

    Reflection Question

What gift have you been carrying for so long that you have started measuring your worth by it?

  • Episode 2: Survival Mode Isn’t a Personality

    Episode 2: Survival Mode Isn’t a Personality

In this episode of Healing Conversations: Coming Home to Yourself, Kesha reflects on the difference between true resilience and survival mode.

The episode begins with a simple grocery delivery that leads to a deeper realization: sometimes the things we call strength are actually patterns of not asking for help, not wanting to inconvenience anyone, and carrying more than we should.

Kesha also shares the story of hosting Christmas dinner for more than 20 people while sick with pneumonia, and the question that helped her see the pattern more clearly: Why didn’t I believe I was allowed to stop?

    Key Takeaways

    - Survival mode does not always look like chaos. Sometimes it looks productive, dependable, and successful.

    - Being called strong can become complicated when strength means never asking for help.

    - Some relationships organize themselves around your willingness to carry more than you should.

    - Resilience does not have to mean carrying everything alone.

    - Recovery asks a different question than survival: What can I finally put down?

    Reflection Question

Where in your life are you carrying something simply because you have convinced yourself it is easier than asking for help?

  • Episode 1: The Day I Realized I Was Missing from My Own Life

In Episode 1 of Healing Conversations: The Day I Realized I Was Missing From My Own Life, Kesha begins with a question many women quietly carry: How did I get here?

This episode explores the kind of self-abandonment that can hide underneath responsibility, loyalty, sacrifice, resilience, and being “the strong one.”

Kesha shares how she learned early to be capable, dependable, and strong, and how those same patterns later became impossible to ignore in her marriage. The conversation is not about blame. It is about noticing the quiet ways we can disappear from our own lives while believing we are simply doing what love, commitment, or responsibility require.

This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and begin asking: Is this who I actually am, or is this who I learned to become?

  • Episode 0: White I couldn't Keep Waiting

In this opening episode of Healing Conversations, Kesha shares why she could not keep waiting until life felt stable, certain, or fully healed before beginning.

She reflects on starting the podcast while life is still unfolding, after surgery, family conflict, unsettled housing, financial stress, and unanswered questions. Instead of waiting to be “on the other side” of everything, Kesha names a deeper truth: healing does not happen after life settles down. It happens while we are living it.

This episode introduces the heart of Season 1, Coming Home to Yourself, and opens a conversation about self-trust, survival mode, being the strong one, self-abandonment, trusting your body, and rebuilding a life that actually fits.

    In This Episode

Why Kesha almost did not start the podcast

The belief that we have to be healed before we begin

Why waiting for stability can become a way of postponing your own life

What it means to heal in the middle of uncertainty

Why healing is a relationship with yourself, not a destination

The theme of Season 1: Coming Home to Yourself

A reflection question for the week: What would you change if you trusted yourself just a little bit more?

    Key Takeaways

You do not have to wait until your life is perfect to begin healing.

Healing happens while you are living, rebuilding, and figuring things out.

Waiting to feel ready can quietly become a form of self-postponement.

Healing is not a finish line; it is a relationship with yourself.

Coming home to yourself can start right where you are.

    Reflection Question

What would you change if you trusted yourself just a little bit more this week?
