We all know music is important in our lives just as much as water is. Without it life would certainly never be fun. In talking with Dave I learned how he followed his passion in music that led to more success. There are a lot of clues for success in this episode so I highly suggest listening to this one a few times to really hear, and understand how Rachel's Song led to much more in life.
More about Dave:
A native of Erwin, Tennessee, Dave grew up in a family that enjoyed making music. Both of his parents and his grandmother Combs played the piano, which began his musical journey that included being a church choir director and pianist.
After college, Dave move to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he served as Minister of Music at a church while working as a computer programmer at a Fortune 500 company.
His songwriting began with the now popular standard, Rachel’s Song, which was arranged and recorded by Gary Prim in 1986. Since then, Dave has written over 120 songs and recorded 15 albums of soft, soothing, and relaxing instrumental music that has touched the lives of millions around the world.
An article written by Dave about how music has changed his life and touched the lives of millions of people appeared in Guideposts magazine. Click here to see the article.
A multitude of inspiring stories about Dave’s lifelong journey with his music can be found in his best-selling biographical book, Touched by the Music: How the Story and Music of “Rachel’s Song” Can Change Your Life.

Is it possible to have more simplicity in our lives? Do the material items we owe affect our moods? I am not sure if you ever saw an episode of Hoarders and thought, OMG! I need to declutter all the things I own. I know I have thought that when I saw my first and last episode of it. It drained me mentally and emotionally just from one episode. I can't imagine the amount of heartache someone goes through to have that lifestyle.
It causes a person to wonder then before we get to a place of hoarding do the things we have in our lives affect us that much? How much is too much to own? If you are energy sensitive to the world around you have you ever wondered if having less would create happiness? There is a lot to think about in this episode of decluttering space in our lives if it truly helps us just physically or emotionally.
Tune in as I talk with Alicija Pytlack whose a Simplicity Teacher to find out more on this subject.

Claire Martin whose a podcast host of, The Strong, Single and Human, show located in Australia, joins me on a snippet of behind the scenes life of being an older single parent. I mention the older portion as I myself didn't become a Mom until after 28 years old. In Claire's case she was over 40 years old. The age does make a difference in how the child(ren) are treated versus the typical early 20's having babies age in a lot of ways.
In this episode as much as we love our children it's also the opposite of how social media tends to fake all those happy moments followed by the illusion of having the "perfect" clean house. You get my point if you have kids you know the truth of the fakers on social media. Times can be challenging. It's what you do in those moments that determines your true character as well as how your child(ren) turn out long term.
Children learn from the leader(s)...their parents. If you want to improve this world start with yourself to ripple out to your child(ren). Join us as Claire and I talk a snippet of the reality of parenting. It's 1000% rewarding long term despite it all. If you are a parent I am sure you will relate to this episode to know you are not alone.

Hope to keep going to get back up after every obstacle in her way. June 8, 2002 to June 8, 2022 20 years ago a tragedy struck that was only the tip of this ice-berg. How did that terrified 16 year old girl I met made it through life? Why would I mention that 16 yr old girl now 20 years later? What did she have that stayed with me all these years? Honestly what did I learn from her if anything at all?
Tune in for more.

Not everyone knows how to handle kids big emotions like anger, sadness or frustration properly. When us adults learn how to control our emotions we reflect onto them how to handle any emotion when they come up. In this episode Rachel and I discuss more ways to handle these big emotions and what we consider big emotions to be.
