  • 28. Listening to the Wisdom of Your Body + Using Naturopathic Herbs | with Cassandra Wilder

Cassandra Wilder is a naturopathic doctor and the world’s leading expert in women’s cycles and menstruation. She travels around the world leading retreats, seminars, and courses, teaching women how to work with their bodies and innate cycles. She’s passionate about the wisdom of the woman’s body and reproductive health, and she’s so talented at helping women hear that wisdom for themselves.

We get into how our beliefs around our bodies and our periods affect (and can even exaggerate) the symptoms that we’re struggling with, and how this emotional piece can even be more important than the food that we eat or the supplements that we’re taking to balance our body. So, how do we balance all of the different areas of women’s health? I’m so excited that Cassandra was able to go into detail about that with us.

    We Chat About:

    • When we first get disconnected from our feminine bodies
    • Tapping into your positive body image
    • How effective herbs are on the body
    • The role minerals play in the body
    • Believing in the women’s body

  • 25. Pelvic Floor Health + Why it Matters | with Lindsey Vestal

Lindsey Vestal is the founder of The Functional Pelvis, the first in-home pelvic health practice in New York City run by an occupational therapist. She has helped thousands of people overcome chronic pelvic health challenges like incontinence and pelvic pain. Her goal is to empower women (and men) to listen to the wisdom of their own bodies without invasive surgeries or prescriptions. She is coming on the show today to talk about pelvic health, which is such an important topic that just often doesn’t get enough attention!!

Lindsey is really trying to cut the stigma around pelvic health. Things like incontinence, bowel movements, or even birthing can feel like taboo topics. • 24. How to manage PCOS + Your Hormones Without Dieting | with Julie Duffy Dillon

Julie Duffy Dillon is a registered dietician, eating disorder specialist, and food behavior expert partnering with people on their food peace journey. She helps people with PCOS promote health without diets through her online courses and her podcast, Love Food.

In the space of healing our hormones, and trying to get to the root of our hormone imbalance symptoms, I found that we can start to develop a fear around our body, a fear around food, and we end up creating black and white rules around what we can and can’t eat. By the end of my interview with Julie, I had an epiphany: I had been trying so hard to control my body that I was causing myself unnecessary stress, and that stress itself can be horribly disruptive to our hormones!

In this episode, you’ll learn how to take all of the information that’s out there, learn to apply it to your body and your life, and from there decide what foods make you feel best and what foods don’t. You’re going to learn so much from Julie!

    We Chat About:

    • The comparison between dieting and eating disorders
    • Easing the symptoms of PCOS without dieting
    • Demystifying inflammation
    • Promoting experimentation without getting into a diet mindset

  • 22. Quitting Birth Control Without Fear | with Rebecca Stow

Rebecca Stow is a client of mine, and when she asked to share her hormonal birth control story, I was like “YES, this is a story that women need to hear!”

Rebecca is a certified holistic health coach like me and she knows firsthand what it feels like to struggle with perfectionism. She’s passionate about helping women develop a strong sense of self so that they can navigate every area of their lives — from food, to relationships, to career, to movement — like a boss. She does this by helping you build trust in yourself and your body so that you can learn to intentionally live, eat, and move in ways that are supportive to you.

Rebecca had such an incredible transformation when she got off birth control. She was on the pill for 6 years. The symptoms she had before taking them were debilitating, so when she decided she wanted to quit taking birth control to connect more with her body, there was fear that those symptoms would come back. Through our work together, she’s learned that getting off of birth control doesn’t have to be scary, and in fact, it is going to make you feel a whole lot better!

    We Chat About:

    • How Rebecca got into the health coaching field
    • Transitioning out of college life
    • Taking birth control to relieve menstrual symptoms
    • The process of quitting birth control
    • Having a period epiphany

  • 20. Ending the Period Stigma & Period Poverty | with Nadya Okamoto

Nadya Okamoto is a 21-year old Harvard student, founder and executive director of Period, an organization fighting to end period poverty and stigma that she founded at the age of 16. Period is now the largest run youth organization in women’s health, and one of the fastest-growing ones in the united states.

For years, we have been told that periods are dirty, shameful, and something to be kept secret. We’ve come a long way in bringing these issues to light, but we still have a long way to go! Can you believe that in some areas outside of the United States, women can’t go to school while on their periods because they don’t have access to supplies? To find out more about why this movement is so important, I encourage you to read Nadya’s book Period Power. It’s a game changer.
