Noam Shpancer was born and raised on Kibbutz Nachshon, near Jerusalem, Israel. He is a Professor of Psychology at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders at the Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy in Columbus, Ohio.
An award-winning writer, Dr. Shpancer’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Guardian, HuffPost, and Vice. He is the author of three novels, including the international bestseller The Good Psychologist (Holt), translated into six languages. His upcoming nonfiction book, Fool Yourself Less: Principles for Psychological Health (APA Books), is set for publication in 2025.
He also co-wrote the screenplay for The Other Story with Israeli director Avi Nesher. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was Israel’s highest-grossing movie of 2018.
