Communication happens on two levels: conscious and unconscious. While we are often aware of the words we choose and the messages we convey intentionally, a significant portion of communication occurs beneath the surface, influenced by our emotions, body language, and subconscious cues.

Akili Jahi is far from being an amateur fashion designer. He emerged in the Columbus fashion scene in 2010 at the age of 16. Although mostly self-taught, Akili was drawn to the world of Haute Couture and quickly immersed himself in learning about fashion, history, and the industry’s pioneers. His debut fashion show in August 2010 marked the beginning of his growing love for fashion, where he presented 19 well-crafted women’s garments that set the stage for his future success.
With over 60 shows under his belt, Akili has captivated audiences at prestigious events such as Fashion Week Columbus, New York Fashion Week, Greater Cleveland Fashion Week, and the Black-Tie Gala, among others. Notably, he produced and featured in the first-ever Club Couture fashion show at the Lincoln Theater.
The essence of Akili’s brand, Jahi—which means “Dignity”—resonates deeply with the empowered, confident, and sophisticated women who wear his creations. Akili’s designs not only reflect his artistic vision but also his commitment to elevating the Jahi name into a globally recognized brand that celebrates luxury, sensuality, and power.
Beyond his work as a designer, Akili is deeply invested in cultivating the next generation of creative leaders. In 2018, he founded the Jahi Designer Brunch, an annual gathering held on the first Sunday of May. The event brings together creative minds to explore new relationships, foster collaboration, and support an important cause: funding scholarships for aspiring high school students pursuing careers in fashion. This initiative reflects his dedication to both fashion and giving back to the community.

New Year’s resolutions are commitments or goals that people set at the beginning of a new year with the intention of improving their lives in some way. These resolutions can cover a wide range of areas such as health, personal growth, relationships, career, finances, or hobbies. The idea behind setting a New Year's resolution is to mark the start of a new year as an opportunity for positive change, self-improvement, and personal development.
New Year's resolutions are ultimately about creating positive change and becoming the person you want to be, one step at a time. While sticking to them can be challenging, they offer a meaningful way to start the year with intention and purpose.
