In today’s episode of Grow Like a Mother I’m joined by Penny Barron, an author and natural therapist, to explore the powerful intersection of storytelling and healing. Penny shares how her personal journey with trauma led her to write a book series inspired by ancient Sumerian mythology, and how reframing life’s struggles through a broader lens can facilitate deep healing. We also discuss the importance of understanding trauma, self-discovery, and how creative expression can be a transformative tool for women.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
How Penny’s own healing journey inspired her book series
The role of mythology and ancient civilizations in storytelling and self-discovery
Why traditional narratives around trauma recovery often miss the mark
Practical insights on viewing life’s struggles as opportunities for deeper learning
How natural therapies can support women healing from trauma
About Our Guest: Penny Barron has always had a fascination with ancient and mythical civilizations. She is currently writing the third book in a series about a Sumerian orphan turned Oracle, a story inspired by dreams and impressions that felt more like memories. Next on her writing journey is a series based in Atlantis.
By day, Penny is a natural therapist specializing in homeopathy, naturopathy, and nutrition. She supports women healing from trauma and teaches natural therapy subjects at a local college. Having experienced trauma herself, Penny has spent years discovering and developing interventions that truly facilitate the healing process.
One of Penny’s passions is reframing traumatic and ‘negative’ events in a way that acknowledges the vastness of life beyond daily routines. She believes that by viewing our experiences from a broader perspective, we can learn more about ourselves and find deeper meaning in our journeys.
