EMF stands for electromagnetic fields, which are the combination of electric and magnetic fields that are created by electromagnetic radiation. EMFs are a type of non-ionizing radiation (NIR), which means they don't have enough energy to break up atoms or molecules.

EMFs are present in many aspects of our lives, including:

• Everyday items: Mobile phones, electrical appliances, and power lines all produce EMFs
• Natural sources: The Earth's magnetic field, lightning storms, and the sun all emit EMFs
• Intentional use: EMFs are used to transmit information wirelessly and to heat food

The amount of EMF exposure people are exposed to varies, but background levels are usually between 0.1 and 4 milligauss. The strength of an EMF can be reduced by moving away from the source.
