Do you want a new perspective on wellness?
Did you know that your well-being, or lack of it, depends on the quantum field and is outside of your conscious control?
If you are ready to stretch your understanding of how your body takes care of you, listen in.
Deepak Chopra MD, Jack Tuszynski PhD, and Brian Fertig MD have written a book that challenged both Eleanor and Kristen.
In QUANTUM BODY: The New Science of Living a Longer, Healthier, More Vital Life (2023), the authors propose using quantum physics to explain some of the things that modern medicine can’t, going beyond genetics, the microbiome, and evolutionary biology.
We are sure that there is more to this story yet to unfold… just give us some time to catch up.

Have you ever overeaten and blamed your lack of willpower?
How often do you look at the ingredient lists on your food?
Chris Van Tulleken has written a book about why we should think about what’s in our food, who is marketing it to us, and how it’s not our fault that we can’t stop eating it. Ultra-Processed PEOPLE: The Science Behind Food That Isn’t Food (2023) is one of the most informative and well-researched books on this topic, and his narrative makes it entertaining to read.
Eleanor and Kristen think you will be surprised by his perspective, insight, and conclusions.

Jonathan and Andi Goldman have written a guide, THE HUMMING EFFECT: Sound Healing for Health and Happiness (2017), presenting some fascinating ideas about the benefits of humming.
They provide some basic principles and instructions on how to hum and how to hum intentionally to heal your body.
Kristen and Eleanor experimented with some humming and even got Tim to hum with them.

What do you know about indigenous wellness practices originating here in America?
Could there be some lessons for us if we take the time to learn about them?
Maybe our current wellness models need a review?
Chelsea Lugar and Thosh Collins provide some American history and their perspectives on it.
They share some of their well-researched native wellness wisdom through a very careful lens in their book, The Seven Circles: Indigenous Teachings for Living Well (2022).
They present a formalized wellness methodology and a visual healing tool, and it is refreshing.
Their hope is that we can learn to be truly well for our families and our communities. Eleanor and Kristen have a very thoughtful discussion about this very interesting book.

Does proximity to greenspace affect our health in a positive way?
Why is being in a natural space restorative to some of us and not others?
Is there a healthy dose of nature that we could take on a schedule?
Florence Williams has written a wonderful book, NATURE FIX: Why Nature Makes Us Happier. Healthier, and More Creative (2017).
She explores what we are learning about our relationship with nature from scientific investigation.
Eleanor and Kristen reflect on her recommendations and share our experiences. Tim even “chirps” in with his interesting perspective. We liked this book and think it is worth a read.

Do you ever think if you could control your thoughts a little more, you’d be happier?
Perhaps positive thinking is the key?
Russ Harris has written an interactive book, THE HAPPINESS TRAP: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living (2nd Ed 2022), in which he challenges common ideas about happiness and provides several activities to help you live the life you want.
He advocates for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and his book is a guide to that practice.
Kristen and Eleanor were unfamiliar with this approach to reducing stress, but they enjoyed their morning chat exploring Harris’ ideas.

What is Wellness, and what is Burnout? Do we know the difference?
How do we know if we have burnout, and how can we learn to recover from it?
Sister authors Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, have written a book titled BURNOUT: The Secret to Understanding the Stress Cycle.
Their insight is based on their special expertise, personal experiences, and belief that women are positioned in society to experience burnout.
This book is well-researched and structured.
