I appreciate this question. I've been in "tech" since 2001. Define it as best for you and your goals...the world was supposed to come an end in 2000 and I realized that something must be special about such an evolution :) As a Black woman who now lives abroad, taking #digitalhealth contracts from world-renowned organizations, I advise to find your area of interest and embrace it. I must also share that not everyone of my own culture supports my strides, and definitely not of other cultures either, as I've experienced more racism from digital health folks abroad (even on my own home continent) than I've experienced on other continents. It is what it is and I remain intentional. That's key. Realize that there is a "big picture" and define where you fit in. You are deserving. I've gone from IT development, implementation, sales, leadership, back to implementation, IT & health policy, and now in strategic advisement. It's an open book. Find your space and own it. Also, develop a community of mentors and those who have what you desire. Seek them. Learn from them. Again, remain intentional. Enjoy your journey and be well. I am so excited when I meet another Black woman in health & tech. And she gets an extra squeeze if she's worked in a corporate setting or with the government. When I think of this space, I think of my joys of being a humanitarian. But, is it always so giving?...maybe - maybe not.
