National ‘I LOVE My Feet Day!’ is celebrated annually on August 17. This is a day to appreciate how valuable our feet are, and a reminder to practice good foot care. Our feet are our primary mode of transportation. They quietly and faithfully help us stand, walk, run, jump, swim, skip and dance. Approximately 75% of the adult population of the United States has suffered foot pain at some point in their lives. Years of wear and tear can be hard on them, as can disease, bad circulation, improperly trimmed toenails and poorly fitting shoes. Today we focus on care for those 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 120 muscles, ligaments, and nerves that make up our fabulous feet.

These conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, affect more Americans than ever before. Disturbingly, the number of Americans with age-related eye disease and the vision impairment that results is expected to double within the next three decades.
Because it is often linked to other disorders, such as endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain may be misdiagnosed as another condition, making it difficult to estimate reliable prevalence rates for pelvic pain. According to one study, about 15% of women of childbearing age in the United States reported having pelvic pain that lasted at least 6 months. This morning we will talk with Dr. Chung about the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of chronic pelvic pain.
