Wood, PhD, MSc, is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Wood's research focuses on the intersection between social determinants of women’s health, most notably gender-based violence, and adverse reproductive and sexual health outcomes. Her research aims to enhance safety and improve reproductive and sexual health outcomes for vulnerable populations in low-resource settings.

She discusses Domestic Violence In Kenya.

In collaboration with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health for Public Health Week 2022, the African Public Health Network (APHN) held a discussion about vaccine access. 

Featured speakers: JHPEIGO Senior Technical Advisors Mary Carol Jennings, MD MPH, and Sarah Wanyoike, MPH, MBA share their experiences with multiple efforts to build immunization systems, and the challenges encountered in various settings. 

This episode is an information session with Dr. Anteneh Zewdie, who currently serves as Director of Programs at the International Institute of Primary Health Care in Ethiopia (IPHC-E). 

Dr. Zewdie discusses opportunities that exist with IPHC-E.

The African Public Health Network (APHN), Anna Baetjer Society of Public Health Practice (ABS), Asia Pacific Public Health Network (APPHN), JB Grant Global health Society (JBGS), and Latino Public Health Network (LPHN) hosted a virtual speaker series on the lessons learned in Low-and Middle-Income Countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Featured speaker:  Dr. Nnaemeka Ndodo, who currently serves as the lead molecular bioengineer in the genomics and sequencing lab of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC). 

Dr. Ndodo discusses the role of disease surveillance in LMICs, as it pertains to both endemic diseases and pandemics, with a focus on the impact of COVID-19 on such systems, and how surveillance has evolved in the past two years. 

This information session is an exciting opportunity for both students and faculty members with an interest in LMICs and disease surveillance.
