As of 2020, 3.37 million Australians are affected by chronic pain. It is often debilitating and restricts activity participation. People who live with chronic pain are often misunderstood and dismissed because chronic pain is one of those conditions where the physical proof of the injury is not observable. So I've decided to invite a guest who is living with chronic pain to share her story and give us insight into what it is really like to live with chronic pain.
In this episode, Barbara Borecka shares her story of how she went from living with constant pain and losing her job as a piano teacher to living well with pain and finding meaning in her suffering. She speaks about the emotional and mental toll it took on her and how she managed to find the tools to better manage her pain these days.
