We all want to care for people well.

But many of us were never taught what that actually looks like.

So we end up in patterns like:

  • trying to fix people
  • taking responsibility for their emotions
  • avoiding hard conversations
  • or becoming overwhelmed by others’ pain

In this episode, we close out our series on emotional maturity by exploring healthy empathy what it is, what it isn’t, and why it matters in every relationship.

Get Into Action This Week

Don’t try to change everything. Just practice one thing:

  1. Choose curiosity over assumptions. The next time someone shares something hard, pause and ask: “Help me understand what that’s been like for you.”
  2. Notice your internal reaction. Are you trying to fix it? Avoid it? Control it? Just notice it without judgment.
  3. Practice staying present 2 minutes longer. Instead of jumping in, sit with them. Even if it feels uncomfortable.
