We could probably focus for several weeks on healthy relationships. There is perhaps, nothing more important in life. No matter how competent any individual may be in any area, the fact is, no man or woman is an island unto themselves. Today we focus on maintaining integrity, particularly in the area of communication. Transparency is noble but it does not mean that everyone is entitled to know every detail about every area of your life. How you dialogue with others will affect the potential for depth in each relationship. The way we communicate with others and the future of each relationship will be largely affected by how we view everyone. Our approach is indicative of our level of respect. Likewise, it is important that we command a level of respect for ourselves. Speaking straight from the heart does not mean it is necessary to speak all your heart. Integrity doesn’t mean full disclosure. It simply means that what you can disclose is done fully. Some matters are age sensitive. Some are time sensitive. There may be specific information that is relationship sensitive. It is good to be straightforward. Confrontation should be an attempt to preserve a relationship, not damage it. Confrontation is not synonymous with contempt. We should always be good with speaking the truth in love. Protect and preserve your significant relationships with integrity.
