Summary:
What if your financial struggles are connected to more than your budget? What if the money beliefs you learned in childhood, the pressure to keep up with culture, and the people around you are shaping your financial decisions today?
In this special four-part Breaking Up with Broke teaching, Dr. Chonta Haynes explores how family money scripts, cultural expectations, and everyday environments can influence the way we earn, spend, save, give, and build wealth.
Discover the three family scripts that can keep you stuck: scarcity, survival, and shame. Learn why the pressure to look prosperous can distract you from biblical stewardship, and consider how your relationships, surroundings, and digital habits may be reinforcing patterns you want to change.
Grounded in Scripture, including 2 Kings 4, Romans 12:2, Matthew 6:33, and Proverbs 13:20, this episode moves beyond inspiration into practical action. You’ll learn to replace limiting money statements with stewardship-centered questions, examine what your money is funding, and create a simple plan to align your financial decisions with your God-given assignment.
Key takeaway: You are not your family’s lack. You are God’s steward. You can honor where you came from without continuing every pattern you inherited.
Why your money story may begin before your first paycheck.
How scarcity, survival, and shame influence financial behavior.
The difference between cultural approval and Kingdom stewardship.
How your relationships, physical spaces, and social media feed shape what feels normal.
Why forgiveness, renewed thinking, and practical action matter.
How to seal a new financial commitment with a personal decree.

Information alone does not transform your financial life. Agreement, followed by action, is what begins to change your patterns.
In the final episode of Breaking Up with Broke, Dr. Chonta Haynes brings the series together with a call to stop tolerating the money beliefs, cultural pressures, and environmental influences that keep you tied to old habits. Through a personal story about her grandmother's peach cobbler, she reflects on the lessons of scarcity, sharing, and letting go.
Grounded in Deuteronomy 8:18, Luke 16:10, Romans 12:2, and Matthew 6:33, this episode contrasts secular money thinking with Kingdom stewardship. Dr. Haynes offers three breakups to make: release the old family script, reject the cultural scorecard, and change the surroundings that reinforce unhelpful patterns.
You'll also be guided through a spoken decree and three practical assignments to help turn inspiration into action. The goal is not simply to think differently about money, but to steward it in alignment with your God-given assignment.
Key takeaway: You don't just need new information. You need a new agreement, supported by consistent action.
Scriptures referenced: Deuteronomy 8:18, Luke 16:10 and 16:12, Romans 12:2, Matthew 6:33, and Philippians 4:11–12.
Your decree: “Today I break up with broke thinking. I release survival. I receive stewardship. I align my money with my assignment.”

You can pray for prosperity and believe in biblical financial stewardship, but are your daily surroundings reinforcing those beliefs or quietly working against them?
In Part 3 of Breaking Up with Broke, Dr. Chonta Haynes explores how the people around us, the spaces where we make financial decisions, and the voices we consume online influence what we consider normal. Drawing from Proverbs 13:20, she explains why our environment matters to our financial lives and why wise counsel and accountability are essential to consistent stewardship.
You’ll learn how to conduct a three-part Environment Audit, reflect on the role of financial accountability, and complete three practical assignments: audit one relationship, clear one money-related space, and change one digital input.
This episode is a call to move beyond inspiration and take intentional action. Your financial future is influenced by more than what you earn. It is also influenced by what you normalize, who you trust, and what you allow to shape your decisions.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
How your circle can become either a ceiling or a catalyst.
Why wise counsel matters in financial decisions.
How your physical space and social media feed can affect your money habits.
Three simple ways to align your environment with Kingdom stewardship.
How to prepare for Part 4: the Breaking Up with Broke breakup ceremony.

Why can you work hard, pray hard, and still feel like you're falling behind?
What if you're measuring your financial life with the wrong scorecard?
In Part 2 of her Breaking Up with Broke teaching series, Dr. Chonta Haynes explores how cultural pressure can distort our relationship with money. From the pressure to look successful to the belief that wanting financial increase somehow conflicts with loving God, women can find themselves caught between chasing appearances and feeling guilty about prosperity.
Using 1 Samuel 8, Romans 12, Matthew 6:33, and the parable of the talents, Dr. Haynes contrasts the world's pursuit of status with the Kingdom's call to stewardship, contentment, generosity, wise investment, and legacy.
She also shares the WORLDLY and KINGDOM frameworks from her financial teaching and introduces a practical Steward's Audit to help listeners examine their spending, assignments, and influences.
This episode challenges you to ask a deeper question: Are you managing money according to your God-given assignment, or are you spending to satisfy someone else's expectations?
What am I funding to be seen? Name it and consider pausing it for 30 days.
What has God assigned me to multiply? Identify one gift, business goal, giving commitment, or savings target.
Who is discipling my desires? Mute one voice that makes you feel behind and add one voice that teaches stewardship.
Your breakup declaration: “I break up with ___to look blessed. I choose ___ to be trusted.”
Faithful over flashy. Stewardship over status. Legacy over appearances.

Free 7 Day Financial Prayer Challenge: https://chontahaynes.com/free-financial-prayer
What if your financial struggle isn't really a money problem?
What if it is a money mindset you learned before you ever earned money?
In this episode, Dr. Chonta Haynes exposes the family money scripts that can quietly shape how we spend, save, give, receive, and steward money. From “we can't afford it” to “we don't talk about money,” these messages can become internal rules long after we've left our childhood homes.
Dr. Chonta introduces three common money scripts:
Scarcity: “There's never enough.”
Survival: “Just pay the bill and pray.”
Shame: “We don't talk about money.”
She then takes us into the story of the widow's oil in 2 Kings 4 and challenges us to recognize what we already have instead of continually focusing on what we lack.
The transformation begins when we stop asking, “Can I afford it?” and start asking:
“How would a good steward handle this?”
This is not about pretending to have money you don't have. It is about replacing inherited money beliefs with kingdom thinking, forgiveness, stewardship, intentionality, and faith.
And before you leave this episode, Dr. Chonta gives you a decree:
“I break up with broke thinking. I am not my family's lack. I am God's steward.”

What if the season you called wasted was actually the season God was using to crown you?
Divorce. Grief. Career changes. Disappointment. Financial shifts. Seasons when you aren't sure who you are anymore.
In the finale of CROWNed Through Transition, Dr. Chonta Haynes takes you through her proprietary CROWN Framework and shows how difficult seasons can become preparation for what's next.
CROWN represents:
Character. Reign. Order. Worth. Navigation.
Through Scripture, personal experience, and the lessons she learned through her own transition, Dr. Chonta explores how God can use what felt like loss to develop the woman capable of carrying the next assignment.
Because transition doesn't have to disqualify you.
It can develop you.
And what you called wasted, God may have been weaving.

You don't have a time problem. You may have a tempo problem.
In this episode of CROWNed Through Transition, Dr. Chonta Haynes challenges the idea that Christian discipline means doing more, pushing harder, and sacrificing yourself for your assignment.
Instead, she explores what it means to practice self-care God's way through stewardship, rhythm, rest, and disciplined choices.
Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and her book Praying Through Life's Struggles, Dr. Haynes reveals four moves for becoming a balanced woman without hustle, guilt, or burnout.
You'll discover why your body is part of your assignment, why rest is not a reward, why small rhythms matter more than complicated routines, and how one faithful choice repeated consistently can begin to reinvent your life.
Her message is simple:
You cannot reimagine your future if what you're carrying is burned out.
