What does it mean to be a coach today? Or more importantly, a good coach?

In this episode, I broke down a couple of ways of looking at coaching and holding space for your clients to get them to the transformation they want to be at. I also talked about the different approaches to coaching and starting a brand new business, including what mistakes to avoid.

So, if you are a new coach, are thinking of becoming a coach, or becoming a mentor in some capacity where you're working with clients, this episode is for you. What I shared is sure to help you critically analyze some of the processes that you have in your business, and also think of how you can make them much more efficient and abundant.

• I often see a lot of new coaches who confuse coaching with consulting when just starting out. Maybe you're one of the people reading this and thinking, "Whoa! Hold up. You're losing me here." What even is the difference between coaching and consulting? How does consulting get into the picture? I started by breaking down what each of those approaches looks like in comparison to the other.
• I think that there's this expectancy error where new coaches expect too much in very little time. They see others sharing their milestone wins, and they expect to achieve that level of success within like...a month. Then when this doesn't happen, they get discouraged and even quit. I explained why this won't help you build a sustainable business, and what kind of mindset you need to have instead to hit the mark.
• One big thing that coaches often do is that they make so many different things mean something about them; things that they honestly don't need to take on, because they just aren't accurate. Your thoughts create your reality. So, the best thing that you can do for yourself is to cultivate a habit of listening to the parts of you that will serve your highest self. And I shared how you can do this so you can start right now.
• Did you know that you were never meant to be a follower perpetuating someone else's strategy? You were meant to be a leader, and leaders do not look to paths that have already been walked. They forge their own. I'm gonna show you how because I laid it all out in this episode.

Business Activation Academy (BAA) is finally here and I'm literally tingling from head to toe! I'm sooo excited I could literally explode! Business Activation Academy is finally OPEN for enrollment, and I'm pumped to finally bring it to life and share it with all of you. It's been months in the making; practically since the beginning of the year - so much work, love, and value have been poured into it. I can. Not. Wait.

• I've always been open about the fact that when I first started my business, hand on heart, I did not have a single thing planned out. There was no sexy blueprint or framework to follow. I literally took one step at a time. Everything unfolded as I took the first step, and then the next would appear as I took the second. The most important tool I had to help me then was using my critical thinking to figure out what decisions would serve me and my business best. I shared the specific details of my personal process and reasoning in this episode.
• In deciding to go against the grain and break the rules, I found myself asking questions about what I saw other businesses doing. Is this effective? Is this the best way to call in clients? How do my branding and messaging make my audience feel? Am I comfortable with the way it makes them feel? I dug into some of the things I observed through this process, and some of the toxic practices and cultures I'm choosing to uproot through Business Activation Academy.
• To set yourself up for success, you need to accept and embrace the fact that you're not going to be to everyone's tastes - and that's what an activated business is all about. Try to serve everybody and you won't serve anybody at the end of the day. So go on and find out how to apply your expansive secret sauce and who you are, which will, in turn, allow you to call in more of your own aligned people rather than a whole other bunch that don't even resonate with your message at all.
• Another aspect of business activation that I talked about was awakening. What does it mean? What does it involve and what will it look like for you and your business? • When starting and/or running a business, it's good to remember that we do not need to have it all figured out. Not everything will make sense from the get-go. In fact, for most things, the meaning and purpose of them will become clear later - much later. What you do need right now is the faith and ability to let go and allow the spirit of your business to guide you. I gave some specific(and a bit unexpected) examples of how this looked like for me.
• A lot of people think that their intuition is always going to lead them into the path that they want. Or that the spirit of their business is going to guide them in the exact direction that they mapped out. Let me break it to you gently...that's not how it works! Let's talk about self-compassion and the way that you treat yourself in business. Why haven't we been able to tap into it as a society? What role has our conditioning and the culture of chasing milestones and achievements played into our lack of self-compassion? In this episode, I unpicked this culture and where it comes from, how to reframe it, and the powerful results that you can unlock when you do.

I talked about how to utilize self-compassion and self-soothing as you build out your offers and connect with your community in order to scale your business. I also touched on how to experience abundance and success in your life, while being able to sustain it for a long period of time.

• We live in a society where bragging about how very little we sleep is seen as an indication of our hard work. For some reason, neglecting our mental, physical and emotional health for the sake of projects or productivity is wildly applauded and assumed to be the only ticket to achieving success, or financial and societal gain. I shared my thoughts on where I believe this kind of skewed and self-destructive thinking comes from.
• When it comes to scaling your business, growing or managing your team, building out your product suite or basically managing all the ups and downs that come with entrepreneurship, the most important thing at the end of the day is having your own back. • I explored some of the reasons we treat ourselves like our own mortal enemies. Think about the way you treat your friends or family, especially the ones you really respect. Be honest. If they were down or they made a mistake, would you speak to them or treat them the way you treat yourself when you make a mistake? I highly doubt it. You would be kind and compassionate. You would create a safe space for them to feel the suckiness of the situation, and then the support to pick themselves up and put one foot in front of the other. So what causes us to be so hard on ourselves?
• How can we as a society, as business owners, as our own best advocates, put an end to these toxic patterns? How can we reframe this kind of thinking and turn it around? How can we learn to practice more self-compassion, be kinder to ourselves, and be our own biggest fans, so that we can see the kind of wildly successful and fulfilling businesses that I always talk about?
