How did the early Church become so dynamic, taking the gospel to places previously unreached? They came to see suffering as a gift from God. Suffering enables us to trade in a shallow life not worth keeping for a deeper life we can't lose AND worth sharing w/ the world!

Why does Stephen get the longest sermon in Acts? Why does Stephen preach the story of Israel? Pastor Joel shows us how small views of God and big views of self produce really sad stories. Choose self awareness and Savior dependence! The higher your view of God, the greater your potential to glorify Him and live a mattering life! Stephen is proof of this!

What would Jesus say about your love for Him? Jesus invites us to look at a woman who loves much because she has taken in His forgiveness. To the degree you take in the cost of your debt being forgiven, you will love.

Jesus says His followers are to love each other with the same love that He loved us (John 13:34). In fact, our neighbors have the right the call us a "clanging gong" if we don't (v. 35). Pastor Joel teaches how we must first take in the unlimited love of the kneeling Jesus before we are able to appropriate a proper posture with each other. We must know Jesus loves us personally if we are to have a gospel culture that is non ignorable to our neighbors.

The 2nd Dimension of God's Love is Neighbor Love. You are to "Love your Neighbor as Yourself." We learn from the Good Samaritan that our neighbors can't live, really live, without love. We also discover you will only love sacrificially to the degree you know that you yourself are loved. The Gospel is Jesus came to be your Neighbor so you could live, and live to be a neighbor to others in need.
