It could be argued that the story of the Bible is God's pursuit of the hearts of men. Our hearts are the seat of our intelligence, emotions, will, and character. Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our hearts with all diligence for from it flow the issues of life. To guard means to give or deny access. So often we as believers neglect to give God access to our hearts through habitual surrender.
