Captain Kirk from Star Trek was the lead hero and star of the TV show from the 1960s. Captain Kirk has an interesting history through his name, Kirk. Kirk in the older languages was a spelling of our modern word church. So the name itself translates to church.

In many ways the TV show called Star Trek (and others) from the 1960s, became the literal “Church” of TV viewers everywhere. Captain Kirk of Star Trek became the spiritual leader of the Church of TV branch of Star Trek.
