  • A Mindset For Faithful Ministry
In this 2 Timothy 4:1-5 sermon, Pastor Richard Caldwell examines A Mindset For Faithful Ministry when sound doctrine is rejected. Believers often romanticize Christian faithfulness, forgetting that standing for biblical truth in an unfaithful age brings real hardship. Looking at Paul's final charge in 2 Timothy 4, Pastor Richard Caldwell warns that seasons of spiritual rejection will inevitably come even within the local church. During these times, people with dissatisfied hearts will refuse sound doctrine and accumulate false teachers to suit their own ungodly desires and itching ears. Despite this intolerance toward healthy teaching, the urgent mandate for every servant of Christ remains unchanged: preach the Word in season and out of season. Ministers and believers must reprove, rebuke, and exhort with great patience, anchored in the final authority and sufficiency of Scripture. Rather than seeking the temporary approval of a wandering world, we serve before the face of God and look forward to Christ's appearing and His coming earthly kingdom. Fulfilling your God-given ministry requires personal commitments to sober-mindedness, endurance through suffering, and a steadfast love for winning souls. By measuring what is right solely by the Word of God, you can count it all joy when criticized or abandoned for the truth. Fix your eyes on the future judgment of Christ and finish your spiritual race with unwavering fidelity. Key Biblical Takeaways: - Expect Seasons of Rejection: Recognize that intolerance toward sound doctrine will arise within the professing church as people turn away from biblical truth to pursue myths that satisfy their fallen desires.

  • What God Sees
This sermon explores the divine perspective presented in Mark 6, emphasizing that God perceives the full reality of human existence, including physical needs, spiritual lostness, and the internal state of the heart. The message highlights Jesus' compassion for the crowds, viewing them as sheep without a shepherd, and His instruction to the disciples regarding the necessity of rest and the exercise of faith during the feeding of the five thousand. It further examines the storm on the sea as a divinely permitted trial designed to teach reliance on Christ rather than human effort. The central theological argument is that a hardened heart prevents believers from recognizing these lessons and seeing others as God sees them. The preacher urges the congregation to soften their hearts to receive grace, understand the purpose of life's trials, and extend compassion to the lost.

  • The Anatomy of a backslider
Hosea 4:1-2 (KJV) Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Hosea 4:16 (KJV) For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

  • Hatred for Hypocrisy & Love for Sincerity
This sermon explores the third priority in Jesus' training of the twelve apostles: his hatred for hypocrisy and love for sincerity. The speaker defines hypocrisy as a disconnect between one's words and heart, using the metaphor of leaven to illustrate how even small instances of pretense can spread and corrupt the entire soul. Drawing from Matthew, John, and Luke, the message warns against the dangers of seeking human approval, self-righteous judgment, and the gap between profession and practice. In contrast, the beauty of sincerity is highlighted through examples of Nathanael, the centurion, and the sinful woman, who demonstrated yielded faith and genuine devotion. The sermon calls believers to radically address areas of hypocrisy in their lives and to cultivate a heart of sincerity that aligns their inner life with their outward confession.

  • Joel: The Day of the Lord
In "Joel: The Day of the Lord," a Sunday night overview of the Minor Prophets, Charles Sebold walks through Joel's three chapters around one refrain and one question: "The day of Yahweh is great and very awesome; who can endure it?" (Joel 2:11). Locusts and drought strip Judah so bare that the temple offerings cease, and the people are told to read it as Yahweh's own doing. Yet even now the door stays open: rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to a God who is gracious and merciful. Repentance does not manage God; it works because of who He is. Yahweh answers with restoration beyond recovery, repaying the years the locust ate, and then pours out His Spirit on all flesh, a new-covenant promise Peter saw breaking in at Pentecost and awaiting its fullness. The remnant whom God calls will call on His name (Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13). Chapter 3 turns dark in the Valley of Decision, where Yahweh mocks the nations by summoning them to beat their plowshares into swords, and Revelation 14 shows Christ treading the winepress. The only refuge from the day of the Lord is the Lord Himself, who tore the veil and opened the way.
