Carey’s journey through loss and how she’s turned that pain into purpose really struck a chord with me. Having walked through my own experience of losing my husband unexpectedly, and while our stories are different, that deep process of rebuilding life after loss felt so familiar.

Carey lost both her husband and her son to suicide — just three years apart — and through it all, she’s found a calling to help others rediscover purpose and hope. She and her daughter even co-wrote a book called Keep Looking Up, sharing their story of finding meaning and healing on the other side of heartbreak.

In today’s episode, we talk about her journey, the power of having a clear vision for your life, and how purpose can become an anchor in hard times.

Today we’re diving into a topic that I think a lot of us have mixed feelings about — being ‘showy.’

Last summer, someone actually called me a show off, and honestly, I almost let those words shrink me. I’ve always thought of myself as pretty humble, so it caught me off guard. The funny thing is, in the exact moment she was talking about, I actually felt really uncomfortable and awkward — the opposite of what you’d think a ‘show off’ feels like.

That got me thinking… how many of us judge others as being ‘too much,’ when deep down, it’s actually about our own stuff? Maybe we wish we had more confidence, or maybe we’re afraid of being seen ourselves.

So today, I’m sitting down with Julia White to unpack this idea of being showy. Is it confidence? Is it projection? Is it just someone seeking validation? And more importantly — how do we move past the fear of being judged so we can show up fully as ourselves?
