Lv: Rīgas nomaļā ielā stāvēja veca bāreņu namiņa ēka, kurā dzīvoja Daina, māju siltuma un maiguma avots.
En: On a secluded street in Rīga stood an old orphanage building, which was home to Daina, the source of warmth and tenderness in the house.

Lv: Daina bija jauka sieviete ar lielu sirdi, kura vienmēr rūpējās par bērniem.
En: Daina was a kind woman with a big heart, who always took care of the children.

Lv: Kad uznāca ziema, un visapkārt bija sniega segas klāts, Daina domāja par gaidāmajām Ziemassvētkiem.
En: As winter arrived and snow blanketed everything around, Daina thought about the upcoming Christmas.
