Jesus calls us to works of mercy, fasting, and prayer, but we must do them in ways that bring glory to God and not ourselves.

To grow up to become like our Father in heaven we must respond to every form of hate, violence, and evil with love that seeks the good of our neighbors, both friend and enemy.

Loving God means that we love and seek to be reconciled with our neighbor. Anger, lust, and unfaithfulness, which leads to treating others poorly, prohibits us from loving God and entering a genuine relationship with God.
