I was iffy about this book because the last several in this series, werenât that good, in my opinion. But I was interested in the dynamics of the lead characters since they were a long time couple with problems of stasis in their marriage. Thatâs an issue that a lot of people face, becoming complacent and passion fizzling out. But people have to decide which route they want to go and if they want to save the marriage or not.

Ruben aka âRubyâ has been a member of the Hellions for years, and has been married to Jenna for even longer. They knew each other as kids in Mexico along with Jennaâs brother and later they all ended up in the US.

Jenna is a loyal, loving and faithful wife and an excellent mother. There arenât many things that come before her husband, except for her kids and they win every time. With the responsibilities of having 3 kids, a full-time job and running her home, Rubyâs needs are usually put on the back burner until they have private time.

Ruby is tired of the lack of passion and spontaneity that he and Jenna used to have in their relationship. It has even changed his love for Jenna. Now, he doesnât know if itâs enough to keep them married, or if they should forge a new path where they may be happier.

I really liked the honesty and deep seated feelings in this book and how it did address issues in such a real manner.

So close to home

Wow! This book hit so close to home for me that it was unreal. Ruby & Jenna have been together for what seems like forever, so their everyday life is now monotonous and scheduled with having to deal with work and kids daily. The passion they had when they were younger has been lost somewhere after having kids. Jenna seems fine because sheâs busy being a mom but Ruby is having a problem with it. He feels like the fire is gone and he doesnât know what to do. It totally hit home for me because that does happen when you have kids. You tend to cater to the kids and forget about the passion you had before them. Well, things happened that made me sad and then there was some action (something Chelsea seems to do very well) that had me scared for Jenna. It was intense and kept me glued to what I was reading. You need to read it to find out what happened though. Iâm not gonna give that away. This was such a great book to read but it definitely had me thinking about my own life and how things have changed. Iâm totally looking forward to reading more Helllions.
