I am so thrilled to have Donyelle Headington, local Minneapolis folk ways practitioner, on the podcast! Donyelle Headington is the founder and lead practitioner of Folkway LLC, a living sanctuary where ancestral traditions, community care, and healing justice converge. Donyelle was raised within African American and Northern/Eastern European families and co-raised by a Colombian family. That mix taught her that food, story, and ceremony bind us back to ourselves. 

Her practice blends sacred listening, Curanderismo, spiritual herbalism, African Diasporic wisdom, Afrocentric Kemetic studies, and Norse Germanic wise woman ways (Völva Stav). She also work across traditions as an invited guest in a Mesoamerican Indigenous tradition. Donyelle is a practicing healer and folk magician based in Minneapolis, MN.

In this episode, we talk about balancing different folklore traditions, creating community spaces, and ancestor work as liberation.

Cultural appropriation is a challenging topic in the occult community, and it is also a topic that is incredibly nuanced. It's important to understand why cultural appropriation happens, what it looks like, and how to avoid it. It's also important not to silo our experiences, to segregate ourselves from other areas of the pagan community. In this episode, Siri interviews Máire Durkan. Máire Durkan is an author, ordained Heathen minister, devoted Friggswoman, and respected voice in contemporary Heathen spirituality. She serves as Clergy Coordinator for The Troth, one of the oldest international inclusive Heathen organizations, and works as both an interfaith hospital chaplain and birth doula, bringing together theological scholarship and compassionate pastoral care. In this episode, we talk about Frigg and her retinue of goddesses that specialize in confronting patriarchal violence, systemic racism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression.

This is a little bit of a different podcast! I'm actually posting an interview I did with Haley over at Opening the Door Podcast. This episode was originally titled "Exploring Nordic Folklore and Folk Witchcraft with Siri Vincent Plouff."

This episode was recorded the Friday after election day. In this episode I talk about the ideas of localized resistance. I have a feeling I'll be putting out more episodes like this, probably with more research and heft behind them. I will also be launching a new podcast next month called Chaos and Cunning, which will be a space where I can expand beyond the confines of heathenry to talk about other magical practices.
