Heather talks about never having had any positive experiences with professionals throughout her children’s lives, being told that they were fine, to then being told that it was her lack of parenting skills, to being sent on parenting courses that didn’t seem to work for her children. Her children got a late diagnosis and both found school challenging, one didn’t have a school placement for about a year. Heather talks about her concerns for her older children who can’t work due to being secondary carers for their younger siblings. Heather also talks about the lack of support from the mental health services. She has been seeking support because one of her children self harms and hears voices and she believes could be a danger in the community.
