In Acts 22:12, Ananias is described as: “a devout man according to the Torah, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there.” In today’s terms, he was one who seeks to follow the Torah, keeps the Sabbath, not eat pig, but don’t follow all the things of Pharasaic Judaism. When Paul was brought before King Agrippa (Acts 26:6-7), he was proclaiming a promise, a “hope to come” that was made to the patriarchs, the fathers, that the Mashiach would come and unite the 12 tribes of Israel. We, like Paul, have been given a ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18). Like Paul, our ministry as followers of Yeshua the Messiah, is to go out to the exiles of Israel and proclaim Yeshua is the Messiah, forgiveness of sin through Him, that if you love Him you will keep His commands, and that He has come to gather and unite the 12 tribes of Israel, and that Yeshua has reconciled Himself to His people, Israel. Reconciliation is made possible, that as the bride repents and returns she can be reconciled to her Bridegroom, Yeshua our Messiah. The context for Peter’s vision is this: Peter’s vision is a prophetic picture of Yeshua’s heart of reconciliation. He wants a God fearer who is a non Jew, one who is devout to the Torah according to Yeshua, to have fellowship with a Jew (Peter). It is a rabbinic teaching that a Jew is not to be in the same house as a non-Jew. If Peter follows rabbinic Judaism, he would NOT have fellowship with Cornelius, but Yeshua wants Peter to have fellowship with Cornelius, because Cornelius is kosher in the sight of Yeshua. Cornelius is a prophetic picture of the house of Israel (the non-Jewish part of the nation/family of Israel.) Peter is a prophetic picture of the house of Judah (the Jewish part of the nation/family of Israel).
