Knowing when Zacharias was serving in the Temple will help us understand when John the Baptist was born. It is possible to believe in Yeshua as Messiah but still walk in the flesh. Those who believe in Yeshua as Messiah who live a fleshly, carnal life may have salvation but will lose eternal status and reward.

Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Cor 3: 13-15

As our works go through the fire, the spirit of God will test the motive and the heart behind our behavior.

By NOT following the mishpatim you lose reward. You lose inheritance. You can be saved, but you can lose heavenly reward because there is no service to God. If one is living a carnal, fleshly life, a person may have salvation (Door #1), but that person loses heavenly reward (Door #2).

He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:9-11

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

1 John 2:6
