In this chapter, we have a healing in Jesus name. We also have an encounter with a bagger. A man is begging. Many of us encounter people baking in our lives at street corners and crowded cities or other places. Some of us may never encounter them. Although one of the interesting things I think to note in this story is that Peter and John actually look at this man. They look at him with their eyes. They pay attention to him. They notice him. They ask him to look back at them. They want to have a moment with him. They do not want this moment to be quick and pass by and just throw some change at him and then walk on now. They want to spend their attention, which is so often so much more valuable than any amount of money that we can give. Yes, Peter and John focus their attention on him. It seems he must’ve been one of those who came to believe in the Lord. Hallelujah.
