In life sometimes it comes down to us choosing our discomfort. Even things we consider positive things, like a new move or new uplevel in our business, still have plenty of areas of discomfort.
When we don't factor the discomfort in, we can become disheartened and allow our mind to tell us stories as to why the discomfort is there -- it must be something wrong with us? No. Discomfort is part of the human experience.

[Resources mentioned in show linked below] As a photographer, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the constant comparison to others in the industry. The constant influx of images on social media platforms can make it seem like everyone else is doing better, booking more clients, and creating more stunning work. It's a common struggle for photographers to feel jealous of their peers and to compare their own work to others.
However, this comparison is not productive and can actually hold you back from reaching your full potential. It's important to remember that everyone's journey is different and that success is NOT measured by the number of followers or likes you have.

Two important lessons I've learned from a year of reformer pilates classes -- the classes have helped heal my body (I no longer walk with a limp from the back injury) but have taught me a few things about life.
If your alignment is off, you might end up not where you want to be or you may make things way harder than they have to be in your business, in your life.
And availability is a powerful form of an invitation, as well as an indicator of what you may be available for even if you say otherwise.
What is your life saying?

1.) This one is obvious.
2.) Because of this one, I am able to expand more into my authentic self which in turns brings me in more business.
3.) This one is obvious as to how it makes me more money.
4.) This one is the reason why you allow or reject money into your life
5.) I believe this one is more traditionally known for bringing in more money.
Honorable Mention: The more you build yourself, the better off your business will be (and allow in more money).

A riff (more relaxed conversational-style) podcast episode uncovering it's not the market, newbie photographers, or your pricing that's the problem -- it's your THOUGHTS that are the problem.
The good news is, you can change your thoughts and rewire your brain to start looking for the good evidence in your business instead of the negative.

Here are some examples of setting boundaries with yourself:
Let's not forget boundaries in social media. As a photographer and business owner, it's hard to step away from social media. Having boundaries help get you out of numbing-out mode. Example from my own life - I only watch TikTok on Friday + Saturday evenings.
Other boundaries I had in my business were "No working on weekends". Yes, I know many if not most photographers love to fill their weekends, but at the time of this boundaries' creation, I was a single mom and weekends were valuable to me and I created the structure in my business to financially allow me to follow through.
Another one was a strict holiday deadline. I never did any holiday-themed images/sessions so my cut-off was November 15th. Anything after that would have to wait for January as I worked hard to make sure I could take off the entire month of December to enjoy my family.
The problem with social media? There are many problems, BUT, one of the big ones is you are constantly CONSUMING content when you are created to CREATE. By nature as a photographer you are a creative person -- don't forget to create more than you consume.
