Listen Later

In this episode of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Helen Lloyd joins Sam and Mark to give a 24 carat gold masterclass in audiobook narration. Why less is more, how a pause is your most effective tool and how playing all the characters can be really liberating!

Our VO question this week is all about why you might choose audiobook narration over commercials or corporates.

Script 1

Volunteering makes a real difference in local communities.

Volunteers respond to real time needs and deliver valuable financial, social and cultural benefits to millions of people, projects and causes. Whether working as individuals or in groups, volunteers are the essence of local communities. And this can be especially important during challenging times when the usual rhythm and flow of community life is disrupted.

This audio guide is divided into six short sections that celebrate the value of local community volunteering - and how you can get involved.

Script 2

Nora closes her eyes and inhales the memory of George; Palmolive soap, fresh air, and boy. Her fingers remember his backbone beneath his thin cotton shirt like a line of cobblestones, a washboard of ribs on either side. His breath warm against her cheek, his auburn hair tangling with her lighter curls. If she and George had had a son, he’d have looked just like that boy. That beautiful boy out there on his bicycle.

Nora fingers the old wooden thimble in her cardigan pocket. Smoothed by years of her caress, the heart and flower are almost undetectable.
