It's officially Week 1!

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino are back behind the microphones for another edition of the Helium Boys Podcast to break down USC's Week 1 opponent: Missouri State, which will be making its debut at the FBS level. 

The show kicks off with the patented 'Two-Minute Drill' with Trevino commenting on Lincoln Riley's comments on Trojans Live about the starting lineup along the offensive line. Shotgun talks about his excitement for the start of the season, and his hurried travel plans this past weekend in Georgia. 

The Helium Boys then take their first official preview of the 2025 season with Missouri State. Missouri State wasn't a world beater at the FCS level with just four playoff appearances since 1989 and a 30-26 record since 2020. The Bears are projected to be among the bottom of Conference USA with a win projection between 5.4-6.7 per ESPN's Football Power Index. 

It's been an emotional offseason for the Bears program after the death of senior safety ⁠Todric McGee⁠ in spring from an accidental gunshot wound. McGee was projected to be a starter in the secondary, leaving a huge loss in the defense and program.
