When I was 11, journalist Geraldo Rivera opened a vault believed to belong to Al Capone, live on television. The show mixed documentary-style reporting of the rise and fall of Capone, with the real-time excavation and opening of this massive vault. As the dust settled, all that was found was a stop sign and the end of Geraldo's career as a journalist. But was it all that bad? Find out why I would take this kind of TV program over anything parading as journalism today.
