Three personal characteristics are almost always found in great women: personal boundaries, grit, and positive social skills. When helping girls learn these three qualities, parents and mentors are also communicating how much they love their girls and how committed they are to their success. Both fathers and mothers play an important role in helping a girl acquire the skills of developing her own boundaries, carrying them out, and displaying the grit that makes it possible for her to do hard things, take risks, and finish what she starts.
