The Henrico School Board voted Thursday to end its investment in An Achievable Dream Certified Academies, the nonprofit that currently serves students at Highland Springs Elementary and the Oak Avenue Complex. HCPS has partnered with An Achievable Dream since the 2017-2018 school year, first establishing the nontraditional academic program for kindergarten through second grade students at Highland Springs Elementary and adding a grade level each year. Sledd Properties recently purchaesd nine industrial buildings totaling 171,000 square feet of space on about 12 acres at 4700 Bethlehem Road in Henrico's Near West End for about .8 million from an affiliate of Brennan Investment Group. Demontray Shadrell Bowman, a 41-year-old North Carolina man, will serve 18 years in prison for human trafficking, after being sentenced Dec. 13 to 58 years, with 40 suspended. Initially facing charges for 32 separate offenses, Bowman ultimately pleaded guilty to four counts of commercial sex trafficking and four counts of pandering. Richmond and Henrico Health Districts officials are urging pregnant women and people aged 60 and older to consider scheduling appointments with their healthcare providers to receive the ABRYSVO vaccine, an injectable preventive measure against Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV. The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond is moving its offices to a new location near Willow Lawn as of Jan. 1.  The 40-year-old nonprofit, which serves older citizens through lifelong learning programs and transportation to medical appointments, will take up residence at 5101 Monument Avenue.  The building originally opened in 1962 as the Virginia Baptist Building; more recently, it has been the home of the Retail Merchants Association (now InUnison).   The new location will allow easier access to meetings and programs for older adults and volunteers, in addition to increasing visibility in the community.   For details about The Shepherd's...Article Link
