A 27-year-old Henrico man died when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Eastern Henrico May 30. Justin Lee Ambrose was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which occurred at the intersection of East Nine Mile Road and Brick Drive at about 6:30 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. In light of a string of incidents involving guns in and near Henrico schools, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas and Henrico Police Chief Eric English Tuesday issued a joint video urging parents and families to ensure that children do not have access to firearms in their homes or elsewhere. Eastern Henrico County will soon gain another 353 acres of open space, including more than four miles of walking trails for public access, with the June 3 dedication of the Varina LandLab by the Capital Region Land Conservancy.  The property at 9200 Deep Bottom Road is set to officially open to the public Saturday, on National Trails Day, with a press event and ribbon cutting at 12 noon. Kishanti Barmoh, a senior at Highland Springs High School, has been named one of 50 Ron Brown Scholars. The scholar program is a national scholarship for Black students. Barmoh, who will attend the University of Virginia this fall, will receive mentoring, career counseling and ,000 to use during her four years in college.
