The Henrico School Board elected Brookland District representative Kristi Kinsella as its 2023 chairperson during its Jan. 12 meeting. The board voted unanimously to elect Kinsella, who last year was the board’s vice chair, to the position of chair. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with all of you, and with our stakeholders, and leading us forward this year,” Kinsella said. A 22-year-old Henrico man is under arrest, charged in the shooting death of his 43-year-old brother. Maurice Nathaniel Steele was taken into custody without incident the night of Jan. 17, several hours after police responded to the 5000 block of Charles City Road, where they found his brother, 43-year-old Cameron Darnell Steele, suffering from gunshot wounds. The elder Steele later died at a hospital. Maurice Steele faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The Brook Road Virginia DMV service center in northern Henrico will close and move to a new location in Ashland sometime this spring, a DMV official confirmed earlier this month to the Citizen. The new location, at 251 North Washington Highway (just a few blocks from Randolph Macon College), is about 8 miles north of the Brook Road site, which opened to customers May 11, 1998. Anna “Ann” Dimmitt, 86, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on Monday, January 9, 2023. She suffered a stroke late on New Year’s Eve and responded very little during her nine days in the hospital.
