I’ve had my eye on our guest this week since I started doing the show and I can’t believe it took this long for us to finally do this interview. This week I’ve invited my friend Henry - a.k.a. the Cheese Master of Taiwan - to talk a bit about cheese and his life in Taiwan. If you love cheese and live in Taiwan, you’ve probably heard of Henry Gerard or Dida Creamery. Henry started Dida Creamery with his wife Brenda and they are the go-to peeps for locally sourced/made cheese here in Taiwan. I met Henry through another friend so the Henry I got to know is the super chill, food/wine loving easy going guy. Whenever I see Henry, I know I am going to eat and drink well! But when I went to his cheese shop to visit him for the first time, I was a bit surprised at how he’s somehow turned into this super-focused/passionate cheese boss! 從去年我接下這個節目以後其實我就把今天這個來賓排在前三名想要採訪的來賓名單中。他是我的好朋友也是台中有名的乳酪達人 Henry Gerard。
已經在台灣住過超過20幾年的Henry對台灣的飲食文化一點都不陌生。不管是剛來台灣的時候在音樂界闖蕩,或者是後來接觸到了奶酪界一起跟老婆Brenda創業開了Dida Cheese後,Henry做任何事情都抱著一種堅持要呈現最好,一路到底的態度。
可能是因為我從一認識他開始就是從一個朋友的角度,一直覺得他就是一個很隨性幽默好相處的人。你知道第一次去他們店裡看到他認真的樣子其實真的嚇了一大跳- 是那一種令人佩服的職人精神!接下來的這幾個禮拜就跟著我一起和這位台灣乳酪界第一把手的好朋友一起閒話家聊吧!
