- Giving Thanks 2024: Top 5 things happening in the culture I’m thankful for
With all of the insane things happening in our culture it’s easy to become disheartened and jaded and to forget that there have been lots of blessings as well. So in that spirit, it is worth taking look back at 2024 and reflecting on at least some of the things that have happened that we can be thankful for.

8 min - Appeal Of Reality: How Men and Women Relate
When it comes to how men and women relate to one another, what we hear in the news and on social media is a far cry from what people experience in their everyday lives. The way they describe how men and women should feel and act, both individually and towards one another, often leads people away from the fundamental reality of how men and women connect with one another, and how appealing that reality can be.

20 min - Vague & Unconvincing: Giving Better Christian Responses
“I find that answer to be vague and unconvincing” that a quote from the Star Wars movie “Rogue One” but it sums up exactly how I feel when I see people who consider themselves as Christians advocating for progressive social issues.

11 min - Validation Of Vice: The Consequence Of Instant Gratification
It’s amazing how much the world can change when you are offline for a few weeks. Between the assassination attempt on Trump and Biden stepping down, to the insane and heretical opening ceremony at the Olympics there is a lot to catch up on and talk about.
But before I dive into all of the insane things we have seen happening on the internet, I figured since I just experienced the shock of reintegrating into the internet world after being free from it, it would be a good time to talk about the negative effects that the internet has had on our culture and world, and how we can regain a correct perspective, rather than letting it control us.

10 min - Reason To Celebrate-Let The Faux Holidays Go
Before the 4th of July gets too far behind us, it’s a good opportunity to remind ourselves why we celebrate July 4th and so many other holidays, and how we can keep the holidays that are meaningful to us special for years to come.

7 min - Christians On Fire: Stuck In The Spiritual Infirmary
According to the National Fire Protection Association, there are far fewer house fires today than there were forty years ago. But despite this great achievement, other factors have caused the house fires that do happen to become arguably more dangerous than they used to be. Which begs the question, what are firefighters doing to adapt to these threats? And what does any of this have to do with Christianity?

10 min - Society of Slogans: The Enemy Of Critical Thinking
I have noticed that most dentist offices fill their walls with fun-looking and (supposedly) helpful messages to distract from the procedure you are about to endure. I have also realized that if you take the time to study these slogans on the wall, you’ll notice that even though you are reading words, they aren’t really saying much of anything.

9 min - The Through Line: Making "Sense" Of The Progressive Left
The author of the “Art of War” says that to know your enemy, you must become your enemy. While this idea has been around for quite some time, when those on the right side of the political aisle try to out think the left, they find themselves in a web of ideas that seem contradictory and irrational that leaves them floundering. But the conflicting logic that the left follows is both more simple than people realize, and far worse than the ideas themselves.

About Herald from the North
From the publisher's feed
A compass does not point to True North, but that does not mean True North does not exist. In the same way, just because we have an imperfect ability to see the full truth does not mean that truth is not there to be found.
It is my prayer that whatever topic is discussed here, those who read and listen will grow in faith and knowledge of the truth as we seek it together.
Happy sailing, and farewell.
-Matthew Murphy, Quartermaster
