I have been wanting to start having music on my podcast sense I started out on this journey, and now its official (beyond just my own music)! Welcome our first band! Now I would tell you the band's name but they don't have one! I love this because that is what sitting around playing music is all about! Hannah Stoller, Clavin Stoller, and Nicole Chen bring the most fun energy to the podcast today! I was so happy they said yes to coming on and sharing their jaw dropping talent us! We had a blast taking photos and laughing between takes, I couldn't have asked for a better first porch guests! Grab your cup of coffee and just enjoy this laid back, no stress episode. In keeping with this celebration and enjoying it myself, there will be no article beyond what your reading. I am on cloud nine and I can't sit still long enough to write one! Enjoy and let me know what you think!

There are some stories that will never be told simply because the question wasn't asked. Experiences lost in time and in return reflections of people become vague but linger in the faces of generations who hold lines of these things untold. What came before, to some, become reasons to move forward. Anita Nofsinger of Andrews, Indiana, has the features of the those who came before her and the skills that keep their stories alive.

There is a place where people gather for more than just the coffee and homemade candy, The Party Shop in downtown Huntington, Indiana is the the heart of the community, and for good reason. Lynette Dowden the owner of this long legacy establishment may only be a stepping stone in the line of ownership but she is making history in her town. Since 1920 the party shop has been serving the community and in 2026 that lives on with a heartfelt, warm smile and genuine care. It is here where people are filled with sweet treats that satisfies the sweet tooth, but also sweet friendships that satisfies the soul. Freddie Tackett has been around The Party Shop sense he was young but now he works stirring the caramel, bagging the candy, and winning the hearts of many with a hometown smile and friendly wave. On this episode I sit down and talk to both of them to talk about their life and the legacy of The Party Shop.
On this episode I sit down with Sharon Metzger, the director of Huntington Main Street, and we discuss building communities. We dive deep into her life, career in non-profits, and how she has lived a life of hospitality. There is no doubt that her passion for her community and her love for people shine through vibrantly within this episode. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this conversation with Sharon Metzger.

What is it about a small towns ability to bewitch one so much that it leaves a craving? Maybe its the slight familiarity of the streets with it’s evening lamp light glow or it’s historical buildings crafted with artful hands. Though those reasons are enticing, I believe the true charm that provokes a desire to stop and take in the experience is the people who bring the essence community with steady realness that comes with time like the lingering creaking of the old wooden floor.
Ashley Miller is the epitome of the most refreshing welcome from the moment you walk into Elevated Collective. Your met instantly with a presence that contains the qualities of a beautiful smile and a, "I feel like I've known you my entire life", heart, embodying the small town spirit and encapsulating laughter. She has become heart of Huntington, bringing downtown a spark of joy and contagious uniqueness.

The more I live this life, the more I realize that it is a gift, and that is meant to be accepted fully without hesitation of humility. It is the one gift that we don’t turn to the giver and say “you shouldn’t have”, as we hand it the back with a list of reason why. In fact it is the one gift we have no choice in receiving, but as soon as our eyes are open to awareness of our possession then there is a choice. How will I use this gift? We can not stow it away until we fit into it. It doesn’t come in handy for the recipe we have been waiting to try until the one ingredient that we would never buy otherwise is delivered in a overnight box. For some reason, the expectations of life is “money back guaranteed”, when in all actuality there is no place to which you buy it and if that is how we view it than the cost is greater than money itself. I want us all to enjoy our everyday life whether your a stay at home mom or a single man in an apartment so for the idea of finding beauty in everyday life, for me at least, is to be reminded of this gift that we have no matter how or what one sees as beauty.
