Here's How Owning Your Dark Side Can Lead To Quicker Healing

Listen Later

In this episode, we are chatting all about the 'darker side' that each of us have within us, which is our shadow self. This is the part of us where all our deepest fears are housed- our inner guilt, shame and self-judgement. It's the part that we've hidden away under lock and key, and have refused to pay any attention to.

But today, we'll discuss how by acknowledging both the good and bad within us, we can actually reach true enlightenment and self-acceptance. By confronting our shadows, we can take control of our narratives and foster a deeper understanding of ourselves, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling life.

Biggest Takeaways

  • In our society, we are conditioned to believe in good and bad, thinking that we need to be 'good' and hide the bad. But, avoiding the darkness within us, can actually extend our suffering.
  • Healing trauma and developing self-love involves embracing all parts of ourselves, accepting what we might describe as our flaws, and acknowledging both our good and bad sides.
  • Remember that your narrative is shaped by your own perceptions, and there are no absolute truths in life. Releasing the shame you feel around your 'darkness' and fully embracing this side of yourself can help you realize that you are not all 'bad', and it is safe for this part of you to exist.
