Have you ever noticed how some people suddenly become very interested in prayer when they're not getting the answer they want?

I've spent decades in ministry and working with leaders. I've seen prayer used in ways that ought to concern every believer.

Sometimes, "We need to pray about this" becomes a convenient way to delay a decision, challenge someone else's authority, or keep pushing until everybody agrees.

Occasionally, we become so convinced God agrees with us that we stop listening to what He's already told us.

James 4:3 gives us a serious warning about asking with the wrong motives.

Prayer is an extraordinary privilege. But we need to examine what happens when our desires begin influencing how we approach the throne of grace.

In today's episode of Here's the Caveat!, we're examining When Prayer Becomes a Way to Get Your Way.

It's a conversation about motives, obedience, spiritual maturity, and what happens when we start using spiritual language to justify our own agendas.

This one may challenge a few assumptions. Including some of our own.

Spiritual warfare is real. So is pride. So is poor judgment. So is fear. So is disobedience. So is our tendency to call everything an attack when sometimes the real issue is that God already gave us an instruction we do not want to follow.

This episode is about putting the battle back in the proper order. Abide in Christ. Stand in the Lord. Submit to God. Obey what He has already made clear.

Spiritual warfare is not proof of how strong you are. It reveals how willing you are to depend on the One who is.

In this episode of Here’s the Caveat!, we tackle a leadership problem that shows up more often than people want to admit. The leader who always has to prove power usually has not learned how to govern it. Real leadership is not loud, insecure, or constantly demanding validation. It is disciplined, steady, and strong enough to lead without performing. We are going to talk about authority, self-control, insecurity, and what true leadership looks like when power is actually under control.

Some people can disagree without losing control. Others hear one uncomfortable truth and immediately make the person delivering it the problem. That difference matters.

Here’s the Caveat… Disagreement tests the idea. Offense often tests the person. If your reaction starts demonstrating the behavior you are denying, your defense has developed a credibility problem.

What if the real problem is not that we lack faith, but that we have aimed it too low? We pray for the blessing. The breakthrough. The answer. The open door. Yet mature faith eventually asks a different question: “Lord, where is Your glory in this?”
