The average Christian has no power from God. They have created their own standard of righteousness. The broken Christian is one who approaches God and is exalted.

The Holy Spirit does many things for believers. He also does something in the relationship between Jesus and His disciples. The Spirit makes the believer to understand and experience what Christ is like.

The Christian life requires movement. The believer is to leave certain things behind while moving toward the prize of the high calling.

Paul found himself accused of being a liar and a bad planner. He could have defended his failure to get to the Corinth church. However, Paul directs the Corinthians attention to a faithful God who has and is working in the lives of both Paul and these believers. Jesus is shown to be the yes that answers all of the promises of God and the problems of men.

Jesus while He was on earth was described by His enemies as a friend of tax collectors and sinners. This was a description that Jesus appreciated. He loved being with people in need. That human side of Christ is still at work today.

Jesus was confronted with gotcha situation from the Pharisees. They brought a woman caught in adultery and they gave Jesus a yes or no question that would have caused him difficulty by either response. Jesus' response removed the dilemma he faced, but also gave a great opportunity to remind us that Jesus' delight is not to condemn sinners but forgive them.

Being both God and man Jesus has emotions. They were clearly on display in the Gospels. Two emotions are prominent- compassion and anger. The two are not diametrically opposed to one another but work hand in hand to help those who are suffering. These same emotions are displayed in Christ's work at the present time.

The reason for taking time to look at all of the characteristics of Christ is for us to see the glory and beauty of Christ. In our modern rush to do everything, we often miss the gentleness and goodness of Christ in our daily lives.
