In going through the book of Genesis it is easy to get caught up in the lives of individuals and some of their unique events. However, it is important to remember that this book of Genesis is important for setting the direction of the rest of Scripture. This message focuses on the overall themes that are important to understand especially the beginning of God's plan for salvation for all people.

This psalm starts with praise to God for past and present victories of God. But suddenly the tone and events change. Everything has gone dark. God doesn't seem to be awake. What has happened? This psalm gives a partial answer but New Testament commentary gives this psalm a solid conclusion.

The closing chapter of the book of Genesis contains the death of two men, Jacob and Joseph. They are were men noted for their faith, but their deaths display their confidence in God and his promises. They serve as an example for those who are coming to their closing chapter of their life.
