Friends don't let friends drive drunk. Parents don't let children play in dangerous places. You would never let your friend eat something you know is poisoned. If you see a person slip and fall, you rush to see if they need help and if they are injured. You slow down when you drive on icy roads. You apply sun screen when you are outdoors in the summer. You caution friends and neighbors when you know of a scam making the rounds.--So when I see people doing something dangerous to themselves, or even worse, something which can harm others or damage our collective testimony for Jesus Christ, it grieves me. I wish it grieved me as much as it grieves God.--Today I'm calling us all to humble ourselves before the word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom about how we speak -and write, and blog, and tweet- to one another and about one another, and what we say about those with whom we disagree, and what we say or fail to say to them in person.--This will be lots of Scripture, and a little comment, all bathed in the prayer that God the Holy Spirit will use His words to expose what needs to be exposed, and provoke in us the desire to day by day be growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior. The words that come out of your mouth are the product of what dominates your heart.--Our home passage for today is James 3-1-10.--1 - The Tongue Is An Instructional Tool -1--2 - The Tongue Is An Influential Tiller -2-5a--3 - The Tongue Is An Incendiary Torch -5b-10-
